“The AMICE project of the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment and several government agencies comprises a newly built system for the registration of industrial and hazardous waste transport and processing. The system is brand new, and built using the latest technology. It is a .NET system using XML data communication over secure Internet connections. The project is managed by Twynstra Work Innovation. In consultation with the client, Twynstra imposed a criterion on the maintainability of the system, as maintenance had been outsourced to a third party. The Software Improvement Group was chosen to perform a Software Risk Assessment because they made a very good and thorough impression. Their approach unravels system complexity up to the code level. The results of the assessment produced a positive and satisfactory overall judgement on the maintainability of the application, as well as several practical recommendations regarding maintenance and transfer of the source code, copyrights and application generator. The results were available quickly, and to the satisfaction of the project team.”
