Outsourcing application development or maintenance, especially offshore, creates a greater need for hard facts to manage by. We have developed a tool-based method for software monitoring which has been deployed over the past few years in a diverse set of outsourcing situations. In this paper we outline the method and underlying tools, and through several case reports we recount our experience with their application.
