A joint study of the University of Minho and SIG where we present the results of a quality assessment of the Satellite Simulator (SimSat) of the European Space Agency (ESA). To rate quality we applied the SIG quality model for software maintainability, which follows the ISO 9126 international standard for software product quality.
We observed that the technical quality of the system ranks two stars in a scale from one to five starts (five stars is given for the best quality).
We conclude that although the system is developed following a strict process, quality problems were still found indicating that efforts to monitor the degradation of software quality are required.
