Techniques for Software Portfolio Understanding
Consortium: Universidade do Minho (Portugal), SIG
In this PhD project, Tiago Alves lifts techniques for understanding individual programs to the level of portfolio's of applications.
Tiago Alves:
“In cooperation with the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal I'm doing PhD research in Techniques for Software Portfolio Understanding. Managing a software system is a challenging activity. For near 30 years researchers and companies have been proposing methodologies and techniques to get insight, manage and control a software system.
However, companies do not run their business relying in single software system. Instead, companies rely in a set of systems working together to run their daily operations. Managing a set of software systems, a software portfolio, is wining relevance and poses very challenging and interesting activities.
The general aim of the project is the research of program understanding techniques for software portfolios. This includes the development of new techniques, the adaptation of existent techniques to scale to the software portfolio level or the enhancement of existent techniques with others where appropriate. The final goal is to integrate all researched techniques into a comprehensive approach for portfolio understanding.”
