Agentschap BPR, GlobalCollect, Ordina and SIDN received a certificate for proven software quality
April 22, 2010
On Thursday April 22, four new software certificates are issued to four important organisations: Agentschap Basisadministratie Persoonsgegevens en Reisdocumenten (BPR), GlobalCollect, Ordina en Stichting Internet Domeinregistratie Nederland (SIDN).
In collaboration with TÜV Informationstechnik GmbH (TÜViT), SIG has developed the Software Product Certificate. The certificate has the potential to become a new world standard. In May 2009 the first certificates are issued to KAS BANK, KLM, ProRail and Rabobank. From the perspective of the organisations that receive a certificate, the emergence of certification is an important stage in the development of the software industry. Every industry benefits from clear quality standards. Now the software manufacturing industry also has a certificate that is widely accepted.
The certificate focuses specifically on demonstrating the technical quality of software systems according to ISO 9126 and a number of thereof derivative evaluation criteria. Software of high technical quality leads to: reduction in cost of ownership, reduce management risks and above all keep software systems easily adaptable, so organisations can easily fulfil new user requests. The certificate also provides a clear yardstick by establishing clear agreements between customers and vendors in the IT industry.
After a warm welcome by Ronald Kasteel, CEO at Ordina, several presentations followed. Finally Mr Sommer, CEO at TÜViT, issued the software product certificates. Below some reactions of the certified organisations:
Jan Manten, CEO GlobalCollect: “For its clients GlobalCollect handled worldwide payment transactions in over 200 countries in more than 170 currencies, and thereby it is essential to have a manageable and flexible system. Because of the quick and qualitative response to the latest developments, it is a strategic decision for companies to outsource the processing of their worldwide payment transactions to us. We are very pleased with the TÜViT certification, because once again it is confirmed that the transactions are in reliable hands at GlobalCollect.”
Gerdine Keijzer-Baldé, Director Agentschap BPR: “I am very proud to be the first governmental organisation that receives this certificate. In the world of electronic government BPR has an important role, because we manage the identity of citizens. This certificate is important to us because GBA ‘verstrekkingen’ (GBA-V) is still being developed with the GBA modernization programme. In 2010 alone, a number of releases will be rolled out, that BPR will manage. For BPR it is important that GBA-V remains a reliable service and that our customers can fully rely on this. Also the staff at BPR will be rewarded for this great achievement, next Monday they namely will get a piece of cake to celebrate this!”
Cees Toet, Manager ICT SIDN: “We are very happy with this outstanding review. During the whole development process the quality of the system was a key consideration. This certificate confirms that we succeeded in this. And we continue to pursue this quality. We want the certificate also preserved in the future releases of DRS5. For this we already have made agreements with SIG for the next years. For our registrars certification is a sign that they work with a well-designed, maintainable, and therefore very reliable system, which provides for a solid foundation for future developments. For the staff of SIDN and relevant external parties is it a well-deserved praise!”
