Paul Klint, Tobias Kuipers, Arie van Deursen and Marjo Wildvank, the founders of the Software Improvement Group (SIG), have won the ICT Regie Award.
On 28 May 2008, the ICT Regie Award was presented at an invitation-only gala event, held at the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague. The event was attended by representatives from the ICT sector, government agencies, community-based organisations and business enterprises. The founders of SIG are proud and honoured to have won this award.
The jury is confident that SIG will continue to play a pivotal role in the development of sophisticated ICT applications. “SIG is the result of intense collaboration with doctoral students and scientific staff at the Centre for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI). All the participating parties showed tremendous perseverance, commitment, decisiveness and drive whilst setting up the enterprise. If we continue down this path, we will continue to grow.” Marjo Wildvank (CEO SIG).
The ICT Regie Award is given to individuals or groups who have managed to convert the results of scientific research into a successful and profitable enterprise. The main criterion is that the individual or group draws on the fruits of knowledge generated through publicly financed ICT research.
With this award, ICT Regie wants to focus attention on successful valorisation, and honour valorisation initiatives. In other words: the prize rewards successful valorisation of new ideas originating from within the Dutch scientific community.
The ICT Regie Award is part of the National ICT Awards. The National ICT Awards are made possible by ICT~Office in association with Nederland Breedbandland, Kenniscentrum e-overheid, MediaPlaza and ICT Regie.
